| On behalf of the New Zealand Chess Federation I would like to congratulate Canterbury Chess Club on hosting the 109th New Zealand Chess Congress. I am well aware of all the work that goes into planning and organising our premier event, and I am sure chessplayers around the country will join me in expressing their appreciation of Canterbury's efforts. In particular, chief organiser Chris Wright deserves a big vote of thanks; I have been in regular contact with Chris in the months leading up to Congress and know the tremendous amount of time and effort that he has put in. I am confident that the 109th New Zealand Congress will be among the best, and I would encourage everyone to come to Christchurch in December for two weeks of fun! |
